More power.. urgh!

.. fresh from a move to the new home (which is the best. place. ever.photo’s will be uploaded to flickr as soon as I can get some spare time to scratch myself) is a PC “power plant” upgrade - namely a brand new Athlon64 running at a cool 3.2ghz (with a beasty RAID SATA Gigabyte system board), along with a fresh install of Windows XP 64.

Quick? Does a chicken have lips? Is the Pope catholic?! Despite a little negative press XP 64 has received (it’s not tolerant of older 32bit drivers, as an example) it’s definitely pushing the processor along..

Next on the “divine quest for power” are dual SATA 200gb hard drives and a nimble NVIDIA powered graphics accelerator. Yes, I like pushing 75 frames per second in Counterstrike Source at insane resolutions - or rendering DivX video at 50+ frames a second, but right now the aging Geforce 4 just isn’t up to snuff, so it’s just gotta go.

While I’d love a dual G4 Mac - this Athlon64 certainly kicks along nicely..
