Richard has updated his typographic tumblr theme to version 2.

“I’ve made all the changes outlined in the previous post now. I’ve also moved a few things around — I’ve applied the theme here, if you want to see the changes.”

A typographically focused tumblr theme, made finer still, with exceptional font choices — it’s great seeing bold use of larger font sizes.

Joen writes that he has released Fauna 1.0:

“Several years of development by a committed team. All wrapped up and final. Compatible with all the best plugins, and the newest Wordpress.”

Fauna is a well engineered and smart theme by an amazing graphic artist.

Mr Hunt writes that he has refreshed his design:

“I’ve been publishing on cameron i/o for 8 months. I’ve gotten 18,000 unique visitors since I installed Mint in August. Cameron i/o has gone through five major designs, and today is the sixth. It’s going back to it’s roots; cameron i/o was originally light on dark.”

Simple meets dark. Web 2.0 be damned, this is 1.0 simplicity at it’s best.

Bill Israel has released another tumblr theme, Letterhead:

“Not sure what came over me, but Saturday morning I woke up with the urge to create a new Tumblr theme. So that’s exactly what I did!”

Bill is fast becoming the tumblr themery architect and go-to guy.

Mr Mullenweg outlines what the WP.com Marketplace concept entails:

At the end of the day, it’s just a market. I’m sure styles, pricing strategies, and more will develop over time.

Themes would be on sale to wordpress.com users, free to self-install users (care of the GPL) and would split income to both developer and Automattic alike. Although it’s hardly surprising people are a tad polarised on the topic.

Given there are a number of add-on options already on sale, themery will merely add to the existing pay-per-view line-up strengthening the .com brand, via strong value add — hardly a malicious act in of itself.

I’m about done.

I have updated broadleaf for the last time1 as the time and resources required to keep the theme current are a little exhaustive. Recent changes in Wordpress table construction has meant a total re-write of the theme code handling posts.

It now uses a conditional query statement that should work under either 2.2.x or 2.3.x. The ‘recent comments’ functionality has been commented out as it no longer works — if you have a working comment plug-in feel free to add it in the appropriate spot within bottom_index.php.

It should also handle the new tags feature in 2.3 and will gracefully degrade if not in use.

I’d like to thank those who have used broadleaf and continue to want to use it — you rock.

As I don’t have a 2.3 install active anywhere at present, I would really appreciate it if folks who have used this theme, or wish to use it, could please give it a workout under 2.3 and report back any issues noted via the current contact avenues.

Any changes will be documented here and feed back into the theme. Enjoy.

"I have a little surprise planned to go with ‘blanc’ but hopefully it won’t take me quite as long as blanc has." — Matthew Maber’s somefool re-design is complete. Meet Blanc. A jet black style sporting clean typography hinted in candy greens and blues. #

After some careful consideration, it was time to jettison the previous design, in favour of something far more simple, clear and uncluttered.

If the design looks familiar, it’s probably because I covet John Gruber’s daring fireball and have been strongly influenced by his aesthetically pleasing approach.

There’s one thing that, possibly, peeves me off more than, well, anything else. That moment where you read a staggeringly assumptive article that simultaneously states the obvious, yet misses the point entirely.

I have a penchant for knowing - just, well, knowing - when a blog or website is powered by Wordpress. You know? Way too many links in the sidebar or header, usually styled the same way? Info all over the place? A candidly modified Kubrick theme? Referring to static pages as, omigod, Pages? #

broadleaf <3 wordpress 2.1

On the subject of updates - just a quick note to indicated broadleaf has undergone a minor revision and is now both 2.0.x and 2.1.x compatible. Twice the leafy love, half the fat.

For the love of cthulu, under no circumstances, whatever you do, do not click here.

On a side note, I’ve ended up with two projects on the go..
