"Antipiracy agency MediaDefender strongly denies recent claims that it set up an entrapment scheme in order to catch so-called pirates downloading illegal movies and software." — a honey pot is one thing, entrapment via malware? .. quite another.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I wish to inform you I no longer give a shit about the iPhone. At all.
I don’t want to have to read yet another Pulitzer Prize attempt in describing the iPhone, that EDGE isn’t all bad (hint, it is) that we should all go out and buy one, that it’s God’s gift to mankind and we should all bow down to Jobs for such a great device.
Is it cool? Yes. Do we really, honestly, need thousands of bloggers all gushing over the device? No.
I don’t subscribe to ~130 (and counting) blog RSS feeds to read about the fucking iPhone. Enough already.
Leave the reports to the established players such as ars, anandtech and the oft-maligned engadget who do this shit every day. I don’t want to read 100 different personal reviews of the iPhone, or of how you stood in 23 inches of snow, in bare feet, walking uphill both ways to buy a mobile device.
Do everyone a favour - if you have a blog, have just bought an iPhone and think we want to hear all about it, guess what? We don’t! If you tell me all about your new toy, despite it being a topic well-and-truly blogged to death, I will ignore you. If you persist in giving a blow-by-blow run-down of just how fucking cool you are for standing in line for 36 hours straight to buy a mobile phone.. I will un-subscribe from your blog and likely never read anything you say again. Ever.
Is that harsh? You better fucking believe it. It’s a mobile device. It runs OSX and it’s pretty cool. That’s it. No more needs be said.
Thanks for reading.
"GM flew me out to Pittsburgh, PA last weekend to check out Carnegie Mellon’s autonomous SUV compete in a DARPA site visit." — the inside scoop on one of the 2007 DARPA entrants, Carnegie Mellon, via Paul Stamatiou.. a good read for the geek within.
"Apple’s soon-to-be-launched iPhone will be irrelevant to business users because it is a "closed device" and does not support Microsoft Office, a senior executive with the software giant said.." — as apposed to closed software? .. pot. kettle. black.
Just goes to show - not all robots are out to kill, main and destroy. Just like us, they have certain.. desires and.. well.. urges.
Came across an amusing little snippet of news today, referring to the “what if” scenario of a normally entirely sane NASA astronaut going “a little loco” and pulling out the Ginsu, or attempting to take a space walk — sans suit.
Once apon a time, using a 17″ flat panel display (indeed, owning any kind of TFT display) was considered pretty darn geeky and cool. Having received a good year or two out of my no-name 17″ Chinese knock-off it became increasingly clear I needed more desktop real-estate.. enter, stage left the ASUS VW192T, a 19″ DVI widescreen display sporting a maximum of 1440×900dpi with a trifle five millisecond refresh rate.
All done.. welcome back.. the ‘foo is now clustered, baby!
Brace yourselves..
I’m about to migrate to the new (mt) grid server technology that has just gone release.
Driver follows GPS into sand | NEWS.com.au
AN 80-year-old German motorist has obediently followed his navigation system all the way into a huge pile of sand, abrubtly bringing his trip to an end. The motorist ignored a motorway “closed for construction” sign and crashed his Mercedes into a pile of sand further down the road, police […]
After a long stint in a closet collecting dust I’ve finally found a use for my aging xbox.
It all started earlier today when I was crashing around in a pre-caffeine state and heard a rather nasty crunch. The thought process was pretty much as follows:
Where’s my other sock gone? .. *crunch* ..
Hmm.. where the hell […]
Not sure if too many readers will be able to help with this one, but there’s no harm in asking. :)
I’m looking to work towards Cisco certification, CCNA being the initial target - does anyone have a spare router (2500 series would be ideal) that is collecting dust that they would be prepared to part […]
