Here’s my pet hate. eBay sniping by an automated process.
Part of the eBay experience is the excitement that builds during the auction.. those final last minutes when the heart starts to pump just that little bit harder, the pupils of one’s eyes dilate.. you know the feeling - you’re about to score “stuff” and it’s gonna be a fair trade. Your moments away from scoring kit at a great price and bam some automated java or perl scripted bot zips in 60 or so seconds before auction end and scores a bargain before you can react.
Well, not any more my friends, you see I’ve found a solution and it doesn’t involve a hit to the hip pocket for some over-hyped and hyperactive perl script to do your work for you. Enter, stage left, everyone’s best buddy — firefox. You may be asking at this point, “ok, cool, but what’s so special about firefox, punk?!” The extension support, of course, has become somewhat legendary in firefox circles. If you can think of a task, there is an extension to provide just that feature.
The one I stumbled across a few days ago is
reload every. Being a fan of simple tools to perform simple tasks, reload-every fits the bill nicely. It’s function is to.. well.. reload a page, every xx seconds, or xx minutes. Has the ‘Ahh.. sneaky’ moment arrived yet? No? well read on.
