Excellent stuff.. scrivs and the gang at 9rules are about to open the doors one more time in 2006 for 9rules Round 5 - October 25th.
Submission Round 4 for the 9rules Network was dubbed the “700 Club because we received 700 submissions from sites that wanted to join the Network. This went above and beyond our expectations and with that we are proud to announce that we will be opening Round 5 on October 25.
Round 4 brought some really great content out from the shadows, causing RSS readers everywhere to swell to bursting with some brilliant new voices. Derek over at 5thirtyone finally found his 9 in the last round and has continued to go from strength to strength.
Thus it is with some trepidation I’ve decided to give submission another go this round. Of course I’ve already started re-organising my RSS subscriptions into sections to try and cope with yet another influx of brilliant content..
Hot tips? Really getting into cavemonkey1, pixelimpact2 and nostritch3.. 9rules continues to bring out the best.
Having run with the default graphics in
my take on the
lovingly green foliage for some time, I felt it was about time to stamp it with something more indicative of smackfoo.
First things first, Paul I have attempted to spell your name correctly.
Now that we have that small matter laid to rest I’d like to make a quick critique of
For those who have been under a rock for the last two weekes, 9rules
recently opened invitations for round 4.
Many great bloggers made the cut, including
Master Punsalan and
quite a few others, some 115 out of 700 sites.
However, as is always the case, there is at least one person who
takes it upon themselves […]
As promised, I’ll cover some of the techniques used in the design, handling of URIs and the tricky htaccess rules all used to glue the whole concept of ’smackfoo’ together.
The weekend as a whole has been a massive learning experience - while there have been some frustrating moments, the results are far far better than […]
Welcome traveller, to the new and permanent home of the old incoherently surreal - smackfoo.com.
Now, before I begin, this is likely to be the single largest entry in the history of this blog, so feel free to pack energy bars and or a caffeinated beverage.. comfy? Great! Lets go.
Firstly, this entry will be broken up […]
One of the greatest frustrations I have faced blogging and working with Wordpress, is a lack of any real graphic design skills - the challenge to design something fresh and new has become an exponentially more complex task as time progresses.
While design is all about aesthetics and flow, code at it’s core is a language […]
Phu has
unveiled the results of his
css reboot design a little early..
Oh. my. fucking. god.
The design is freaking awesome and features far far too many groovy tricks to mention - go,
view, be inspired (and depressed).
The soft greys, the typeface, judicious use of style and elements that self-adjust dependant on display size […]
Having just received news the last of the 6 available links have sold - I feel a little vindicated that picking one advertising company does indeed work. The last two links were sold in rapid succession shortly after the re-design and reaches a small milestone of covering the costs of hosting and may give me […]
As you may have read, I recently
started posting to
Newsvine. This is partly due to Newsvine being an exceptional platform for news related content and partly an experiment to trial writing more serious material that may not always be in harmony with the blog. I certainly did not expect to achieve much, perhaps a […]
Greetings,
Welcome to the new face of Incoherently Surreal.
Based on Fernando’s
magazine, the new layout features much of the old design, indeed apon visting this site I’m sure you will see some old friends, such as the ‘this news, just in’ asides and the ever-growing list of irreverent, oddball or just plain surreal
del.icio.us links, which […]
