“So, here’s what I’m trying: As of about an hour ago, the main feed now contains the full content of the site, available to everyone free of charge.” — this is great news, except for paid up members whom now have a pointless membership and advertising thrown in for kicks.. nice.

Just in case the naysayers’ amongst us still think twitter’s star has already risen and fallen, may I present the results of what happens when one posts a link to one’s own blog:

.. results of twitter traffic boost

As you can see - there’s been quite the burst of traffic in the last 48 hours, much of it as a result of twitter driven traffic.

Whilst opinions may well be divided on the topic of just how useful twitter is, or if there is indeed any point to it — one simply can’t argue with the digg like effect of a twittered entry.

People want to know the point? How about being able to drop links in real time, in front of a massive (and growing) community of demographically diverse people? Or gaining real-time feedback on some idea or design?

Tell me that isn’t something useful.

"As the one-year mark approaches, many of you have been asking how it’s working out. My answer has been ‘Pretty good so far, but we’ll see.’ Starting today, we get to see." — John’s memerbship drive 2007 kicks off with a damn fine bang. #
