Final Freddy

I’m about done.

I have updated broadleaf for the last time1 as the time and resources required to keep the theme current are a little exhaustive. Recent changes in Wordpress table construction has meant a total re-write of the theme code handling posts.

It now uses a conditional query statement that should work under either 2.2.x or 2.3.x. The ‘recent comments’ functionality has been commented out as it no longer works — if you have a working comment plug-in feel free to add it in the appropriate spot within bottom_index.php.

It should also handle the new tags feature in 2.3 and will gracefully degrade if not in use.

I’d like to thank those who have used broadleaf and continue to want to use it — you rock.

As I don’t have a 2.3 install active anywhere at present, I would really appreciate it if folks who have used this theme, or wish to use it, could please give it a workout under 2.3 and report back any issues noted via the current contact avenues.

Any changes will be documented here and feed back into the theme. Enjoy.

On the subject of updates - just a quick note to indicated broadleaf has undergone a minor revision and is now both 2.0.x and 2.1.x compatible. Twice the leafy love, half the fat.

revisionism of a theme

Smithers.. release the hounds!
My experience post creation and releasing a
certain theme goes a little something like this:

broadleaf is released.. time passes..
broadleaf is poked and prodded by quite a few folks.. time passes..
a bunch of issues are discovered and fixed.. time passes.
I read Lorelle’s
reminder on the joys of
oversized element content.. time pas.. oh […]

Broadleaf showcase

After a few months of
broadleaf released unharmed and unhindered in the wild, it’s amazing to see what folks have done with it. At last count the theme has had in excess of 3800 downloads between this site and the
broadleaf themes.wordpress.net entry.
With the knowledge that broadleaf has had some time out in the community, […]

Fear the camouflaged ninja

Having run with the default graphics in
my take on the
lovingly green foliage for some time, I felt it was about time to stamp it with something more indicative of smackfoo.

Release Candidate One

Broad leaf has gone release candidate
• masses of fixes and shiny new loop code that handles asides, or ’sides-less configuration.. get it while it’s hot! :)

broad leaf update - 1.3b1

broad leaf has been updated
• I have cleared some code from footer.php that should not have been in the live release1 - version has thus been bumped to 1.3b1 as a result.
Make that version 1.3b2 - some more features have been added - refer data.php for the changes. :)
note: you only need to overwrite footer.php […]
