"Every day I come into contact with a new blog or blogger. It is wonderful to see new websites and read the content that they hold, however, it is definitely annoying to be bombarded with.." — Justin Shattuck vocalises the things we’re all thinking. #
"In short, IBM is asking the Court to declare that Linux doesn’t infringe upon any of SCO’s purported intellectual property." — there is potential light at the end of the SCO vs IBM litigation tunnel.. yes, it’s still as yet unresolved. #
Lets just get this out in the open - I use Thunderbird as my email and RSS client.
It’s been good to me, up until recently. It’s getting to a point now with the increasing amounts of email and RSS feed explosion, that I have found myself totally and utterly swamped with content and it’s not going to get any less busy as the numbers of great blog authors and content keeps on coming and as I find myself involved in increasing numbers of projects. I desperately need simplicity.
"I have a little surprise planned to go with ‘blanc’ but hopefully it won’t take me quite as long as blanc has." — Matthew Maber’s somefool re-design is complete. Meet Blanc. A jet black style sporting clean typography hinted in candy greens and blues. #
Our ever-expanding “extendâ€? section now has a brand-spanking new plugins directory where you can browse, download, rate, and comment on all your favorite plugins. I highly encourage you to go check it out. — wp-plugins.net now has some competion. #
“New measurements of Mars’ south polar region indicate extensive frozen water. The polar region contains enough frozen water to cover the whole planet in a liquid layer approximately 36 feet deep.” - one step closer to answering the life-on-mars question.
The furvor surrounding the return of the C= Commodore Brand, in the form of dedicated gaming rigs, results in the ususal "cash in on geek nostalgia".
Whilst the designer case graphics are very swish indeed, it’s still just dressed-up off-the-self kit. #
Is it me, or has google’s reader just had a [so far] unannounced, subtle yet highly user friendly UI change to both the subscription pane and articles list?
It’s happened in the last few hours and the enhancements really, do, honestly, make a massive difference - particularly when you compare to the older UI design:
".. what is best to develop this market and to have more consumers enjoying this really very important, very modern way of downloading and enjoying the music?" Kill DRM! It’s the single biggest hurdle to open formats, let alone with the industry itself. #
After quite some experimentation, much of it fruitless, that has resulted in a mass tug-of-war with Wordpress and it’s infernal re-write rules, the structure of the ‘foo has changed. This has primarily been driven by a fundamental flaw in Wordpress that will likely never be addressed, as it’s simply not considered a “problem” to begin with..
Whilst I am not at all pleased with the final result, it’s the closest I can come to a workable solution, that scales well and will be as ‘fluff’ free as I can make it.
It means I have to go back to using pages for semi-static content, rather than using a fluid rewrite rule set that blurs the lines to make pages and posts interchangeable.
I’m going to have to rethink the entire permalink structure for the ‘foo.
And not because I particularly want to, but due to a frustrating limitation in wordpress that should have been resolved a long time ago. It hasn’t and it still plagues a great number of peopleto this day.
