I’ve been putting some thought into how I can help fund the purchase of a mac. I could write review-me PPP style posts, but I think we all know where I stand on that particular idea.
We’ve all seen the pleas of “help me buy n“, where n is some super expensive toy and the would-be coveter is after donation-after-donation to obtain the goal. Free product by virtue of those with spare coin to throw around.
And it occurs to me, that instead of a thinly veiled attempt to score money from the kind-hearted souls in the wider blogging communities - I’d make your $, £ or ¥ investment actually be worth a damn. You see, I have a little bit of prime real-estate here, that I could ‘auction’ off in return for donations.
The concept? Your (once off) US $20 donation would result in a well placed ad in the side bar, running for a two month cycle, that could look a little something like this:
Got ‘foo?
smackfoo.com -
wise cracking ninja geek voodoo.
As a special offer, as part of my quest to score a mac, donations of US $40, will secure your link love as a permanent1 fixture. That’s insanely cheap advertising in return for a not-too-sizable donation. Help me get a mac and I help drive traffic to your product or blog - it’s a match made in heaven.
If you want to take advantage of the above special offer, simply quote “link love drive” in the form as linked below, to score uber-cheap advertising and help me score a mac. The offer will be good until the end of April, 07 - so get in quick. ;)
Of course, I am always happy for people to hook up some ’tising via tla, but nothing says “click me” quite like a small discrete image with nicely kerned text.
Each small vignette of link-juice joy, would be randomly displayed, ensuring each advert gets it’s own real-estate, doesn’t compete with others and has the best opportunity to drive traffic.
Your coinage goes to a good cause and you get something in return. Got a brand new product? Want to increase your site’s exposure? Want to help me “get a mac” and not waste your donation? .. step right this way.
