Came across an amusing little snippet of news today, referring to the “what if” scenario of a normally entirely sane NASA astronaut going “a little loco” and pulling out the Ginsu, or attempting to take a space walk — sans suit.
I had a double take when viewing my Akismet spam haul this afternoon, namely due to an extremely realistic and well crafted spam comment.
At first blush, it looks entirely convincing, apart from excess trailing periods ‘…’, the comment spam
replicates valid wp ping and trackback formatting reasonably well. Be honest, had you spotted this in a […]
This is a classic example of why I left dreamhost for (mt).
Since only one of our three data centers is losing power, not all servers will be shut down. Unfortunately, our core routers and our upstream providers are in that data center, so there will be no network to any servers during the window. #
Despite the on-going problems with unexpected router and network issues, taking large numbers of their hosting systems out, Dreamhost still don’t get that the above is a real problem that needs a real solution.
After reading
yet another forum entry with the usual defence of Australia’s incumbent telecommunications giant,
Telstra - I felt it was time to illustrate my, ehm,
disatisfaction with their behaviour.
Normally I wouldn’t let such a topic bleed over to the ‘foo - but it might prove amusing for the odd Australian who’s crazy enough to […]
.. and misses the point entirely.
It never ceases to amaze me how piracy is the universal “reason for everything”, as though it’s some magical and mystical evil that swallows all before it and none shall prevail.. the sky is falling!
Came across an interesting referrer in the foo’s stats today, from Touchstone.
“Are You Paying Attention?”
That’s a good question.. and whilst on the surface it appears to be yet another web 2.0 startup, they are, for a change, using the technology and concepts behind web 2.0 for good, rather than evil. And they’ve tapped into my pet hate ((.. which is why I’m now desperate to get into their beta)) — information overload.
.. the plot thickens, it would appear we have a live one — and to think it could have just as easily been a spam bot.
After receiving yet another nigerian scam email and being in a particularly less tolerant mood than normal - I decided a response to a reasonably well put together email was in order.
Now, I fully expect the email to bounce, but given the recent turn of events, it was somewhat cathartic to reply to a nameless individual who has likely sent the same email to several thousand people.
Right, so there’s this thing happening just at the minute, that’s plain not too hot.
My partner kath is currently in hospital. Which is, well.. is less than an ideal circumstance. Let’s rewind that for a moment and I’ll explain.
It appears something is wrong - and I use the term ’something’ primarily because the specialists, surgeons and pretty much every other medical personage involved have very little clue, at this time, as to what the fuck is actually wrong.
On the subject of updates - just a quick note to indicated broadleaf has undergone a minor revision and is now both 2.0.x and 2.1.x compatible. Twice the leafy love, half the fat.
