I have a problem.
After fruitlessly seeking a particular cd through my assorted collection of cd and dvd wallets this morning I came to the frustrating conclusion that I cannot find jack shit.
A quick trip down to the local PC store & I’ve rocked back with a particularly swanky looking cd and dvd case.

I can cram up to 250 media within it’s aluminum confines, with each pocket sporting a number between 1 and 250.
So, dear reader, I have a problem that you might just be able to help me with. There is no easy way to manually track my assortment of media that range from backups to game media to general junk - I’ve already amassed some 140 odd discs as of today ((I didn’t help things today by procuring F.E.A.R, a long sought after item on my ‘to do’ list)).
What I am after is a web based product1, that allows me to catalog cd or dvd content2, assign each disc a unique number, that also allows for reasonably granular searching and parks everything in a spiffy mySQL database.
After searching freshmeat and sourceforge and coming up without anything remotely suitable, I figured I’d throw the floor open to the crowd and seek some advice.
- preferably php based, but am open to suggestions (↩)
- ideally via my workstation drive, not the server itself (↩)
