How Much Is My Blog Worth?

Found this little gem, after today’s browse through my current crop of news feeds:

Inspired by Tristan Louis’s research into the value of each link to Weblogs Inc, I’ve created this little applet using Technorati’s API which computes and displays your blog’s worth using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal.

Thus, here is the potential value of is:

My blog is worth $7,903.56.
How much is your blog worth?

Okay, so at first I thought “You know, that’s sort of bad, really” but the more I think about it, the more it is actually fairly close. Again, it’s another ‘meter’ I can use to judge whether the site needs improvement (the short answer is obviously going to be yes) and how those improvements track against value.

It also sends a clear message to advertisers. Traditional carpet bombing of ‘popular’ websites with advertising creates a crowded and often unpleasant experience for prospective readers. Blogs offer an alternative, with viewer friendly yet effective advertising potential, with the weight of valued (or valuable) content that will drive traffic back again and again.

This is something I’ve come to find very useful, not due to being another ‘cute’ how long is my proverbial — but rather another handy tool to track site improvement progress.. Do you think such tools improve your online presence? What other ‘meters’ like this have you found useful?
