I like coffee. Okay, I lie.. I love coffee. There is nothing else that has the same intoxicating aromatic scent, that can tempt me into imbibing cup after cup of caffeine goodness. My birthday present this year was a Gaggia espresso machine. It officially rocks - espresso from freshly ground beans, never tasted so good.. it should be illegal.
Now, if like me you into the odd hit of golden nectar, you can check out the cool “how stuff works” style video of the Gaggia in action (warning: the file is a paunchy 34mb). Trust me, after watching that it’ll be a quick trip off down to the local appliance store to procure one of the best coffee machine products available.
What’s all the more amazing is my wonderful partner Kath decided this would be the ideal birthday gift! It’s going to take a while to really get familiar with the gaggia, but initial brews have proved to be most agreeable.

I simultaneously jumped with excitement and was filled with jealousy when I saw the picture of that machine load up on my Bloglines feeds. I once had an espresso machine at home, then it broke. It was six months out of warranty and as a result I haven’t had it fixed or replaced it yet. It’s currently sitting in my laundry in pieces. About every 2-3 weeks I go in there and spend about 45mins trying to find what’s wrong with it. No luck yet. In the mean time I’ve been forced (when at home) to have horrible Coffee Club coffee. At work however I have the fantastic benefit of being only a few hundred metres from the best coffee shop in Brisbane. Do your self a favour and see if you can get your hands on some Merlo coffee beans.

Excellent - will do. There is a local coffee house not more than 100 meters or so away from where I live - who seem to be well visited so might cruise across in the weekend and get some freshly roasted caffinated goodness. :)

That gizmo looks pretty nifty. Shame it makes coffee, though. I have actually tried to develop a coffee habit and couldn’t. I have tried to make it as uncoffeelike as possible by adding all the dilutions imaginable-cream, sugar (actually artificial sweeteners), milk, etc, and I still cannot stomach it.
So I use various Diet Mountain Dew products to achieve my caffeine fix.
