So..

I’ve cleaned up and added to the Apple iTunes enhanced wp-rss2.php from Geek Speak Radio, based on the official apple specifications. You can find an example of the updated RSS2 feed file right here. I’ve added the tags:

- `` additional keywords to aid in iTMS searches..

- `` + `< itunes:name>` additional location for name, podcast network, etc..

- `` just in case your podcast is particularly raunchy. :)

.. as well as cleaned up some of the code and added comments to describe the various tags. This is a direct replacement for your existing wp-rss2.php file, however you will need to edit some of the `` tags to match your layout. Take special note of the formatting of the categories - they must match specific preset iTunes categories (hint: page 1).

The iTunes tags don’t collide with the existing RSS2 implementation and I have spent a number of hours now testing the results.

There is still a number of statically set tags, that I would like to handle via the wordpress interface. Ideally I’d like to adapt a ‘wp tag’ plugin with a ‘custom feeds’ plugin to enable one to manage the whole podcast feed, add the various iTunes feed tags, as well as per-show iTunes tags like keywords, categories, etc..

.. so if anyone has suggestions of a good tag plugin, or suggestions as to how I could turn the custom RSS php into a plugin, I would be most appreciative. :)
