Konfabulator is now free, thanks to a Yahoo! buyout. Nice.

Its good news, but I just never found konfabulator really worked the way I do. Id look at the site, and the widgets and think “hey, cool I want that”. Then download it and be fed up with it, at most within a few days.

i dont know why, but Apples implementation of a similar idea (which actually goes right back to Mac OS 6 and the days of Desk Accessories imo) is just so much better I think.

Its just a shame that stocks and shares widgets STILL only work for US stocks.

I’m on a PC - so it’s one of the few better options available. Apple’s implementation is based on konfabulator to a certain extent - some have gone just shy of saying it’s a rip off, but the Apple version seems to have a real polish. Widgets are one of the cooler features of OSX all the same. :)

And yes - I really want a mac.

I can see how some may think Apple’s is a rip off of Konfab, but its really not. Konfab and Apples widgets are really just an evolution of desk accessories from the OS5 (and before maybe) through OS9 days.

That said, who knows if the Dashboard would have arrived without Konfab?

I just want a UK stocks widget.
