You know Apple’s ITMS sucks..

.. when you appear to have to be in an ITMS (iTunes Music Store) supported location to actually add your own podcast.

Ok, well that seems reasonable, they’ve got to have some form of account setup, right?

Sure, makes sense to me too, indeed I have a valid Apple account - oh yes, that’s great, right? All sorted eh?

Nope. It’s not an account in an ITMS supported country.. Any podcaster currently not in an ITMS supported country cannot add their podcast. Why? You need to have a valid ITMS account (not just a valid Apple account, confused yet?), ergo, you need to be in a country that Apple’s ITMS is available in.

Sure, you can have any podcast you like, as long as it’s in the ITMS podcast list (ok, I can mostly live with that), but if you want to add your own, well, you’re screwed. Sadly Apple has stopped many great podcasts from entering simply due to their country of origin. Nice work.

This is just based on a quick jaunt through the podcast submission process, chances are I can eventually find a way to add the ‘ramblings podcast - however it will take additional effort that should not have to be expended.

I was expecting.. more, from Apple.

Addendum: This is now confirmed - one must be in an ITMS supported country in order to submit podcasts. In my case, Australia’s ITMS rollout has been shelved with no explanation other than a “big name label” refused to sign..

I submitted your feed address (feedburner addy) to the iTMS Canada store (although I submitted it as music rather than audio blogs). We’ll see if it goes through.

The iTunes music store gives me a head ache. It’s so anal!

I purchased loads of music and now I can’t play it.

Two songs from the last album I downloaded never arrived.

There are still many improvements to be made!
